Thursday Night

Program Guide, Thursday Night, April 27, 2023

From Mansoor Sabbagh:

Notes:

1) About the show: A few weeks ago, I gave/provided my proposal and requirements to the Executive Director of Pacifica Foundation, who has shared with the interim general manager of kpfk (I personally spoke with him as well about this issue during the Bookfest this past Sunday), the terms and conditions under which I can produce/host Something's Happening show and how it could/should move forward starting May 1, 2023. But, there has not been a reply yet.

2) If you wish, you can call in during the "Inner Vision show", with Dr. Nita Vallens, today, Friday, at 1pm, when she will do a tribute to Roy Tuckman. Tune in at 1pm today.

3) The attached audio file is a tribute to Roy from Elliot Mintz, who was on Roy’s show in Jan 2015.

12:00-12:28 am: announcements about the show, Elliot Mintz's tribute to Roy, and the fate of the show starting on May 1, 2023.

12:28-1:25 am: A talk by Jack Gariss on the topic of Letters to a Wayfarer, part 3 of 3. This lecture begins with human evolution, bringing together religion and science in a discussion of humanity, nature, and the universe, and ends with talks about the human mind, consciousness, and meditation. Jack Gariss was an American spiritual teacher and meditation instructor, and a radio personality on KPFK in Los Angeles from the 1960s until his death in Los Angeles in 1985.

1:25-2:06 am: Tami Simon, director of Sounds True, in conversation with Lorna Byrne, an author, on the topic of Knowing Yourself as a Spiritual Being. How might your life change if you were to reclaim your own “spiritual sight”? What would happen if you lived with a direct knowing of yourself as both a physical and a spiritual being?

Wednesday Night

Wednesday Night, April 26, 2023

Notes: We are honoring/remembering/celebrating Roy Tuckman's life. He passed away on April 20.

The attached audio file is Dave Emory's eulogy for Roy Tuckman

From Mansoor Sabbagh:
About the show: I have given/provided my proposal and requirements to the Executive Director of Pacifica Foundation, who has shared it and talked with interim general manager of kpfk, on how and under what condition I can produce/host Something's Happening show and how it should move forward starting May 1, 2023.

Pitch: Dear Something's happening (SH) listeners, KPFK is in the 4rd week of its spring fund drive. The total amount donated to the station is $93,655 and during Something's Happening hours $8241 has been raised so far. You might be skeptical of the situation at the station and its building, which is for sale, and needs a lot of repairs and retrofits. Let me share with you that I am NOT married to a building; I care about the signal, which is intact and will not be affected by whether the building is sold or not. Let’s make sure we will have a kpfk on the air. You know kpfk very well—it’s been on the air now in its 64th year—and only has continued to bring you programming with your contribution. I want to encourage you to make a generous contribution to the station and become a monthly sustainer. Something’s Happening show has been on the air for 45 years with Roy Tuckman! So, I want to plea with you to make a generous contribution during SH program, 12 midnight to 6 am, by calling 818-985-7535 or go to kpfk.org, click on DONATE button, and follow a few easy steps to make your generous contribution. Can one of you donate a $1000, can another one you donate $500, how about $250, and of course your generous $50 is most welcomed. kpfk is here for you and because of you. Please call 818-985-7535 or go to kpfk.org, click on DONATE button, and make your generous contribution. I have not compromised content for the sake of fundraising and pitching. I need your financial support during these hours.

Also, I am still looking for one person to make a generous $250K contribution; it can be monthly payments, to help the station and foundation out. So, please call 818-985-7535 or go to kpfk.org. I will welcome your $100K as well as $50 contribution; however, I am looking for one person, you, who has lifelong benefited from the programming, to make a generous $250K contribution. Please call 818-985-7535 or go to kpfk.org.

12:00-1:16 am: Dave Emory For The Record #1285 interview #22 with Jim DiEugenio about JFK revisited.

Roy Tuckman, 6.23.1938 - 4.20.2023

Roy Tuckman, 6.23.1938 - 4.20.2023

Dear Listeners,

I am sad to announce our Roy Tuckman passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2023, with his wife Diane by his side. Diane has asked me to share Elliot Mintz's sincere tribute with a link to a rare video of Roy reflecting on life, loss, and consciousness.

Like many of you, I have been listening to Roy's radio programs for many years. What he created and shared with us for the last 46 years has been the shining light guiding us toward the truth and easing the pains of life for many people worldwide. Twelve years ago, I volunteered to post Roy's blogs and programming on the internet, and I'm grateful he trusted me to be a part of his work.

Roy was a humble and gentle soul, unlike anyone I have ever met. We will miss him greatly. He lives on eternally through the myriad of shows he has created and shared with us and continues to guide us toward the light.

Sha Tahmasebi,
