One of them, Tsutomu Yamaguchi is the only person who experienced the full effects of the cataclysm at ground zero both times.

CAUTION: The book received some harsh criticism due to some dishonest information given to Pellegrino (by a troll) which evidenced after publication. I spoke with Mr. Pellegrino before playing the book for the first time some years ago and he told me the false interview information concerned events on Tinian Island describing the preparation for the first bombing. So these events have been edited from the reading on the show. Other than that, the reading, as the book, is unabridged.




One reaction to the false information inspired Pellegrino to publish a second book, “To Hell and Back: The Last Train From Hiroshima” (2020). Also available in print or audiobooks, audible, or CD.




Charles Pellegrino is the author of many books, including ‘Unearthing Atlantis,’ ‘Dust,’ ‘Ghosts of Vesuvius,’ ‘Her Name,’ ‘Ghosts of the Titanic,’ and ‘The Jesus Family Tomb.’ He has contributed to many popular magazines, including Science and Smithsonian.




Arthur Morey (reader) is a former literary manager of Chicago’s Body Politic Theater and has taught writing at SUNY Rockland and Northwestern University. Utz McKnight is Chair of the Department of Gender and Race Studies and Professor of Political Science at the University of Alabama. He is the author of Race and the Politics of the Exception: Equality, Sovereignty, and American Democracy and Everyday Practice of Race in America: Ambiguous Privilege.
Laura E. Gómez is Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law. She has taught the Critical Race Studies Program in the law school’s upper-year curriculum. Professor Gómez has co-founded and served as the first co-director of UCLA School of Law’s Critical Race Studies Program. She is the author of Inventing Latinos: A New Story of American Racism and Manifest Destinies: The Making of the Mexican American Race. 2nd ed.

His action in 1971 in releasing the Pentagon Papers blew the lid off of Washington’s mountain of lies and deceptions about Vietnam and ultimately led to Watergate and Nixon’s resignation. Ellsberg looks at the policy of supporting Diem’s Saigon regime, first by Kennedy then Johnson.
