Alan Watts – Karma the Law of Retribution

Watts reflects on the Buddha’s understanding of karma and the way it is seen by ordinary Indians more as a kind of causality related to suffering in one incarnation being related to actions in a prior one.

Sounds True (Tami Simon) – Michael Singer podcast

“Experiencing Love and Joy instead of Fear and Desire”

“When your personal self isn’t taking over,” teaches Michael Singer, “your heart is full and your mind is clear.” So what stops this from happening? Our fears and our desires.

https://resources.soundstrue.com/podcast/s3-e5-experiencing-love-and-joy-instead-of-fear-and-desire/

In this episode, Michael shows us how to replace the never-ending pursuit of what you think will make you OK with that which will actually fill you with unconditional love and joy.

Michael A. Singer is author of the #1 New York Times bestseller The Untethered Soul and the New York Times bestsellers The Surrender Experiment and Living Untethered, all of which are published worldwide. He had a deep inner awakening in 1971 while working on his doctorate in economics and went into seclusion to focus on yoga and meditation. In 1975, he founded Temple of the Universe, a now long-established yoga and meditation center where people of any religion or set of beliefs can come together to experience inner peace. Along with his nearly five decades of spiritual teaching, Singer has made major contributions in the areas of business, education, health care, and environmental protection.

The Magical Mystery Tour with Tonio Epstein

“Psychedelics in Human Evolution”

Terence McKenna was a mathematician and ethnobotanist, and a brilliant out of the box thinker. He was a very prolific speaker and author of Fruit of the Gods. In this fascinating presentation he talks about how psychedelics likely played a crucial role in the most major advances in human evolution, and how we are currently at another critical juncture in our history and how psychedelics may be the only way that humanity will be able to change its thinking and how it relates to the world quickly enough to avoid extinction.

The Magical Mystery Tour is a show that dives into the heart of things exploring new ideas and new ways of seeing and being in this wondrous crazy world we share together. New shows are available weekly by Monday. Feel free to contact host Tonio Epstein at 802-229-5123 or tonio@together.net

“Each card seemed a frozen moment in a story,” Ms. Pollack wrote in a 2015 essay for the Tarosophy Tarot Association. “The cards originated as images, not doctrines or the set of meanings we attach to them. This allows them to pull together strands and possibilities, to create stories that are meaningful in people’s lives.”

In 1993, Ms. Pollack created DC Comics’ first transgender hero: Kate Godwin, also known as Coagula.

Dave Emory – For the Record #1311

https://spitfirelist.com/for-the-record/ftr1311-how-many-lies-before-you-belong-to-the-lies-part-26/

excerpts:

Introduction: The war in Ukraine has served to make the normalization of Nazis almost routine. This broadcast highlights that normalization, places it in a broader historical context and sets forth essential background information that fleshes out understanding of the phenomenon.

Points of Analysis and Discussion Include:

1a.–The program begins with review of a critical insight made by Glenn Pinchback, an officer at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. This insight encapsulates an ideological dynamic that has, in part, resulted in the normalization of Nazis via the Ukraine war.

1b.–Exemplifying the normalization of Nazis is the whitewashing of the Plast organization by the New York Times, which presents it as a normal summer camp.

2.–A more accurate portrayal of the Plast organization was presented by Scott Ritter: “ . . . . Plast is to Ukrainian nationalists like the Hitler Youth was to German Nazis. . . .”

3.–The whitewashing of Plast can be seen as deriving from the cultivation of Ukrainian and other Eastern European fascist groups by the Gehlen organization.

4.–For the second time this year, Azov Nazis were feted as heroes at Stanford University.

5.–Stanford fellow and conservative luminary Francis Fukuyama was among those who celebrated the Azov Nazis.

6.–Azov’s Nazis evolved directly from the Third Reich collaborationist government of Ukraine. Roman Svarych, WWII Ukrainian Nazi satrap Yaroslav Stetsko’s personal secretary in the 1980’s, was instrumental in the spawning of Azov. Svarych was the Minister of Justice of Ukraine under three different administrations. (That is the equivalent of U.S. Attorney General.)

7.–Ukrainian revisionist Volodymyr Viatrovych served as Minister of Education in Ukraine.

8.–Ukrainian school children are now taught the doctrine of fascist and anti-Semitic ideologue Ulas Samchuk.

Covert Action Bulletin with Chris Garaffa and Rachel Hu

https://covertactionmagazine.com/2023/10/11/covertaction-bulletin-eyewitness-gaza-why-the-resistance-is-justified/

On October 7th, the Palestinian resistance launched its Al-Aqsa Flood uprising against the decades-long occupation by Israel. Despite $3.8 billion every year in military aid from the U.S. and a vast military and surveillance state, the Israeli government seemingly had no warning to this carefully-planned advance.

In response, Israel has declared a “total war” on Gaza. It’s shut down access to electricity and the Internet and more. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said, “There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting animals and we act accordingly.” Israel has bombed the Rafah crossing into Egypt, leaving Gazans with no way to exit.

Within 4 days, the Israeli bombardment has left nearly 200,000 more people displaced in the Gaza strip, according to the UN, which also warns of a deepening of the already disastrous water crisis in Gaza. Western politicians in the U.S. and EU have been quick to condemn the Palestinian resistance and pledge their support to Israel. But across the United States and the world, protests have broken out in support of Palestine and the right of people to resist occupation and apartheid.

We’re joined by Yara Shoufani, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), which is a transnational organization with chapters across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, that is struggling for the liberation of Palestine. Find PYM on social media and at their website palestinianyouthmovement.com

For an on-the-ground report from Gaza, we are also joined by Wafa Aludaini, a Gaza-based journalist and activist and the 15th October Media Group’s manager. Wafa also works as an international correspondent with several international publications. Trimmed from their podcast to fit within radio format. See the website for the full program.

Whole Mother from KPFT with Pat Jones

Gabriela Gerhart

Gabriela Gerhart was born in a small mountain village in the Czech Republic. She is an entrepreneur,

speaker, author, and the Founder and President of Motherhood Center. She has always loved babies and children and knew from an early age that it would influence her career path. Due to Gabriela’s love of children and helping others, she pursued degrees in both pediatric nursing and physical therapy from 1991-1997. When Gabriela moved to the US she began working as an au pair to four boys, ranging from newborn to elementary age, from 1998-1999.

Gabriela soon noticed there was a void in the market for families of newborns and young children looking to find nannies for their children. She then realized the even greater need – a place where pregnant women and new mothers could go for advice, classes, and support. It was from this realization that Motherhood Center was born in 2000, and it has served more than 40,000 clients and counting since its beginning. Over twenty years have passed and it is still Gabriela’s passion project. She is constantly working to customize the Motherhood Center’s services and working to collaborate with others to best serve mothers and their families in our surrounding community and all over the world. Her goal is to build a cohesive network of support for new parents to turn to – the ultimate village, if you will.

Gabriela is recognized as an expert in the field of pregnancy and early-stage child development. She has intimate knowledge of the childcare and newborn care industry, as well as in-home staffing (nannies,

family assistants, and newborn care specialists), massage, yoga, and pregnancy education. She recently

launched Motherhood Network which allows families virtual access to the services and classes offered at Motherhood Center. This was a dream of Gabriela’s since she started the Motherhood Center and she is beyond elated to be able to extend support to families across the country and world.

Gabriela is passionate about supporting her community and regularly provides donations of pregnancy and parenting services and products to countless causes around Houston to assist with fundraising efforts and to better the community as a whole. To name just a few, she has supported the Children’s Museum, Junior League, The Women’s Fund, Crime Stoppers of Houston, L.I.F.E. Houston, and many elementary and preschools in and around Houston.

Gabriela is excited to have recently published her first book titled, “After the Fall,” a memoir in which she shares her journey growing up amidst communism, coming to America, and living the American dream.

Creative Frontline:

Film-maker and journalist Robert Lundahl interviews Chemehuevi NuWu Elder and Leader. Also known as Matthew Leivas, Sr. Environmental Whistleblower and Protector of the Colorado River. Part 1 of 2. The interview can also be found on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg8I9FN9a7g

The Indian Reservation he is describing, and where he protects the Colorado River, begins on the California side and continues for 30 miles on the California side to approximately one mile south of the

Havasu Palms Resort. We will air part 2 of this interview next week.

To round out the hour, we will rerun an interview with Mahlee Yellowfeather, an Apache descendant of Geronimo, about the struggle over Oak Flat, which an act of Congress “exchanged” to Resolution Copper for the exploitation of an enormous copper deposit.

According to an article in The Intercept, “The legislation in question — the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act — was the product of a proposal then-Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake added to a must-pass defense authorization bill late one night in 2014. The addendum, known as a rider, incurred no congressional debate. Described by the San Carlos Apache as a “midnight backroom deal,” the law transferred Oak Flat to Resolution Copper, a British-Australian concern jointly owned by the extractive giants Rio Tinto and BHP, both of which had sought access to the wildly lucrative ore deposit for years.

“The project centers on a 2,200-acre area known as Oak Flat Campground, part of the Tonto National Forest, that has served as a centerpiece of Apache religious ceremony and cosmology since before settler expansion into the West. To access the ore underneath, Resolution Copper will use a technique known as block cave mining, which over several years will turn the sacred mountain into a two-mile-wide crater deep enough to hide a skyscraper.”

In the second half of the show, mutual aid and land stewardship organizer Summer Starr joins the show to discuss the censored sources of the fires, namely capitalism and colonialism.
