There has been a lot of talk about the Vagus Nerve these days. It can help us during times of stress or illness, and it’s one of the longest and most important of 12 cranial nerves in our bodies. It connects our brain to our gut (and our gut to our brain), and affects our mood, digestion, heart rate, immune response, and much more. Join Nurse Rona and her guest Amelia Barili, PhD, to learn about the Vagus Nerve and ways it can help us in these challenging times. See also: https://www.nurserona.com/

Jackie Griggs, CNM, has been a Nurse Midwife in the Houston area for the past 30 years. She is a mom of 5 grown sons, 3 born at home with the help of midwives. She owns a birth center in Beaumont, and helps with babies at home in Houston and the birth center in Beaumont. She has been on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Birth Centers, until just recently, and still is a very big advocate for midwifery care at a birth center or home, for the women of this country.

Abby Henson is a student midwife studying at the National College of Midwifery, currently apprenticing in Houston with Jackie Griggs. After working for 10 years as a business consultant, Abby’s interest in midwifery began when she had each of her two children with midwives. After each delivery, Abby’s interest in birth work and midwifery grew stronger, and in 2022, she decided to leave consulting and become a midwife. She is excited to dedicate her work to empowering parents through the birthing process. Abby is also a Certified Lactation Consultant.
